Stand by me (B B. King)

“Stand by me” es una canción de 1961 interpretada por Ben E. King y compuesta por él mismo y por Jerry Leiber y Mike Stoller.

“Stand by me” se caracteriza por sus ostinatos (repetición constante de un fragmento musical) que llevan al unísono el bajo, el güiro y el triángulo. Una vez se escucha, el ostinato hace reconocible la canción  para siempre y  esa misma base está presente como fondo durante todo el tema, tanto en las estrofas como en los estribillos, sin que resulte monótono y dando una unidad homogénea.

La voz del cantante, comienza con frases cortas en un registro medio que va subiendo hasta llegar al estribillo donde alcanza un clímax.

 Cuenta con un acompañamiento orquestal y un coro que a partir de la segunda estrofa crea un fondo sonoro de notas largas con una suave melodía puente que da paso a la parte final donde los violines cobran un mayor protagonismo. Cuando entra de nuevo la voz de el cantante en la coda, las cuerdas reproducen la melodía del ostinato que se ha estado repitiendo varias octavas por encima y fundiéndose cuerdas y bajo conducen a un clímax conclusivo.
